Enrico Baj, internationally renowned Italian painter, sculptor and essayist, interpreted in 1979 a menu by Gualtiero Marchesi: Le Diner de l’Apocalypse chez Marchesi.

The year was 1979. Enrico Baj (1924-2003), a literary artist and author of numerous publications, interpreted a menu by Gualtiero Marchesi: Le Diner de l’Apocalypse chez Marchesi, with his unique and recognizable creative style.

A very rare lithograph, part of the Academia Barilla Gastronomic Library collection, in which Baj depicts his idea of the Apocalypse linked to the gastronomic world. Inside, the courses, written in French, whose names are clear literary references that leave ample room for the imagination in interpreting the dishes.

The creation contains what can be defined as Enrico Baj’s recognizable mark, famous for his collages made with different materials, mixed with his painting style deeply influenced by Surrealism and Dadaism, featuring grotesque and caricatured figures.
